Mural at the Museum of History, St Petersburg, Fl.

As a Visual Arts teacher, collaborating for several years as the Multicultural Liaison and working closely with the Social Studies Dept, I was invited by a board member to become part of a mural project on the walls of the Museum of History.

My roll was to head a collaborative student mural on the lower wall of the facility while at the same time, a new addition to the St. Petersburg mural scene, the iconic St Pete postcard being painted on the upper wall by two local St. Pete muralists.

I researched themes and painted the entire space with a black and white outline of symbols and design, preparing it for my students to join me on a Saturday morning to fill it all in with color and personal thought. Our mural is about the lovely city of St. Petersburg, but almost more so about how we are all connected and united, all who share in this beautiful city with all of our differences, yet all of our similarities.

The murals were unveiled on Saturday evening.
